A Typical Safari at Gambella
Day 1: The Adventure Begins
Arrive at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. After clearing immigration, collecting your luggage, and exiting the airport, meet your driver guide for a city tour and introduction to Ethiopia. The tour will highlight attractions such as the National and Ethnological Museums, Trinity Cathedral, and St. George’s Church and Gallery.

Day 2
Transfer to the airport for a charter flight to Gambella National Park, arguably Ethiopiaโs most remote wilderness. Upon arrival, the camp team will transfer you to your tented camp. Enjoy an evening walk around the camp, which is nestled among trees near the parkโs panhandle that joins the Baro River. This location is perfect for exploring the northern boundary of the park, a hotspot for the Kob Migration.

Day 3
Start your day with fresh coffee surrounded by pristine wilderness. Embark on a charter flight over Gambellaโs swamp lands, keeping an eye out for Shoebills, Nile lechwe, and large herds of buffalo and lions. Depending on the season, witness spectacular numbers of Kob on the park’s outskirts. Conclude the day with an evening walk around the camp.

Day 4
Drive for about two hours to the plains in the park’s northwest corner to view large herds of Kob and visit Nuer cattle camps. Overnight in a fly camp by a river with a flooded oxbow, rich with diverse birdlife.

Day 5
Return to the tented camp (a 2-hour drive). Board a Cessna for a flight to the parkโs drier southwest regions in search of elephants and giraffes. The lakes and pans here are teeming with vibrant bird life. End the day with an evening walk or drive around the camp.

Day 6
Transfer to Gambella town for an Ethiopian Airlines flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, collect your luggage and meet your driver to transfer to a hotel with a room reserved for day use. Enjoy your last evening dining at a fine restaurant in town before heading back to the airport for your flight home.
