A high priest gives the signal for participants to get ‘baptized,’ symbolizing the purification of their souls.

This morning, return to the Taboat Maderia to witness the morning ceremonies and baptisms taking place at Fassilades Bath. The water, symbolizing the Jordan River as described in the Bible, is blessed by the priest, followed by a patriarch who dips a golden cross into it to extinguish a burning candle on the altar. The priest then sprinkles the blessed water over the entire assembly in commemoration of Christ’s baptism. After the baptisms, the Tabots are carried back to their respective churches accompanied by joyous feasting, singing, and dancing.
