Zufan Eco Tour is an Africa-focused travel company specialising in authentic, responsible and tailor-made travel experiences.
We arrange and develop travel experiences in destinations including Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mauritius, Madagascar, Nepal and Rwanda, with additional destinations in Europe, including the Netherlands, France, Greece and Switzerland, being developed.
Our aim is to provide memorable travel experiences while respecting local communities, cultures, wildlife and the environment.
These Terms & Conditions apply to bookings made with Zufan Eco Tour through our website, email, telephone, social-media channels, in person or through an authorised representative.
Depending on the services booked, Zufan Eco Tour may act as:
Where mandatory Dutch or European consumer law provides rights that differ from these Terms & Conditions, those mandatory legal rights will always apply.
A quotation or travel proposal is not a confirmed booking until Zufan Eco Tour has confirmed the booking in writing and the required payment has been received.
Once the booking is confirmed, the traveller is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
The booking confirmation, itinerary, quotation, invoice and these Terms & Conditions together form the agreement between the traveller and Zufan Eco Tour, subject to applicable law.
A 50% deposit of the total agreed travel price is required to confirm the booking, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing.
The deposit may be used to secure accommodation, transportation, flights, permits, guides, activities and other travel services.
The remaining 50% must be paid no later than 21 calendar days before departure.
If the booking is made less than 21 days before departure, Zufan Eco Tour may require 100% payment at the time of booking.
If the final payment is not received by the agreed deadline, Zufan Eco Tour will contact the traveller and provide reasonable notice where appropriate.
If payment remains outstanding, the booking may be cancelled in accordance with the cancellation provisions of these Terms & Conditions and applicable law.
Any cancellation charges will be calculated according to the applicable cancellation schedule and the actual costs and commitments associated with the booking.
A traveller may request cancellation at any time before departure.
Cancellation must be made in writing by email to:
The cancellation date is the date on which the written cancellation request is received by Zufan Eco Tour.
Cancellation charges apply because travel services are often reserved and paid for in advance and may become non-refundable.
Unless a different cancellation schedule is specifically stated in the traveller’s booking confirmation, the following standard cancellation charges apply:
| Cancelation received | Cancelation charge of total booking price |
| 90+ days before departure | 20% |
| 60-90 days before departure | 30% |
| 30-59 days before departure | 50% |
| 21-29 days before departure | 60% |
| 15-20 days before departure | 70% |
| 8-14 days before departure | 80% |
| 4-7 days before departure | 90% |
| 0-3 days before departure | 100% |
Important
These percentages are intended as standardised cancellation charges reflecting the increasing costs and commitments associated with the travel arrangements as departure approaches.
Where applicable law requires a different calculation, the legally required calculation will apply.
Where the traveller requests an explanation of a cancellation charge, Zufan Eco Tour may provide the basis for the charge, including relevant non-refundable supplier costs, expected cost savings and other relevant factors.
For clarity, if a traveller books a trip costing €2,000 per person:
The remaining amount, if any, will be refunded in accordance with the applicable cancellation terms and law.
The same calculation applies per traveller where the booking is priced per person.
The 50% deposit is required to secure the booking and may be used to make advance payments to suppliers. However, the deposit is not automatically treated as a 50% cancellation penalty in every situation.
If a traveller cancels, the applicable cancellation charge will be determined according to the cancellation schedule, the terms of the booking and applicable law.
If the applicable cancellation charge is less than the amount already paid, the difference may be refundable.
If the applicable cancellation charge is greater than the amount already paid, the traveller may be required to pay the remaining amount, where legally permitted.
Some travel services may have their own cancellation or non-refundable conditions.
These may include:
Where such costs have already been incurred or are contractually unavoidable, they may form part of the applicable cancellation charge, subject to applicable law.
A traveller may have the legal right to cancel a package without paying a cancellation charge where unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination or affecting travel to the destination are reasonably expected to significantly affect the performance of the package.
Examples may include:
Where this statutory right applies, the traveller may be entitled to a full refund of payments made for the package, without additional compensation. (EUR-Lex)
Cancellation because of personal circumstances does not automatically entitle the traveller to a full refund.
Examples include:
The applicable cancellation charge will normally apply.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, illness, medical emergencies and other personal circumstances.
Zufan Eco Tour will make every reasonable effort to operate the confirmed itinerary.
However, circumstances may arise that make a change or cancellation necessary.
These may include:
Where a change is necessary, Zufan Eco Tour will seek a suitable alternative where reasonably possible.
Where a package travel contract is cancelled by Zufan Eco Tour in circumstances where the traveller has a statutory right to a refund, the applicable refund and compensation rules will apply.
Zufan Eco Tour works with hotels, airlines, drivers, guides, local tour operators, activity providers, parks and other travel suppliers.
We carefully select our partners, but some services are performed by independent third parties.
Where a third-party supplier experiences a problem, Zufan Eco Tour will make reasonable efforts to assist the traveller and arrange an appropriate solution.
For package travel, however, mandatory law may make the package organiser responsible for the proper performance of the travel services included in the package, even when those services are performed by other suppliers.
After confirmation, a traveller may request changes to:
Changes are subject to availability.
Additional costs charged by suppliers may be passed on to the traveller where applicable.
A change may also be treated as a cancellation and new booking if the requested change is substantial.
Where legally permitted, a traveller may request to transfer their booking to another person.
The request must be made within a reasonable period before departure.
Any costs charged by airlines, hotels, transport providers, permit authorities or other suppliers may be charged to the traveller.
The original traveller and the replacement traveller may remain responsible for amounts permitted under applicable law.
Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they have:
Zufan Eco Tour may provide general information but cannot guarantee the granting of a visa or admission to any country.

Travellers must not intentionally disturb wildlife, damage natural habitats, litter or participate in illegal collection of protected natural materials.
We encourage travellers to leave shells, plants, animals and other natural materials where they belong unless collection is expressly permitted.
If a traveller experiences a problem during a trip, they must notify Zufan Eco Tour or the designated local representative as soon as reasonably possible.
This gives us a reasonable opportunity to investigate the problem and, where possible, correct it during the trip.
Complaints should be communicated to the guide, local representative or emergency contact provided with the booking.
If a complaint cannot be resolved during the trip, the traveller should contact:

Where package-travel law applies, the traveller’s statutory rights remain unaffected.
Where Zufan Eco Tour is the organiser of a package travel arrangement, we are responsible for the proper performance of the travel services included in the package, subject to the rights, limitations and remedies provided by applicable law. (EUR-Lex)
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude statutory consumer rights.
Where required by applicable law, payments for package travel are protected against the insolvency of the organiser.
Zufan Eco Tour is committed to complying with all applicable Dutch and European requirements concerning the protection of travellers’ payments.
Where a booking constitutes a package travel arrangement for which insolvency protection is required, the applicable insolvency protection will be arranged in accordance with the law.
Before the traveller is bound by a package travel contract, Zufan Eco Tour will provide the traveller with the legally required information regarding the applicable insolvency protection, including the name and contact details of the entity responsible for providing that protection.
The applicable insolvency-protection details will be included in the traveller’s pre-contractual information and/or package travel documentation.
